Pickl is a ranked pickleball ladder for verified University of Florida students. Using it means agreeing to this page. It is deliberately short.
Who can use it
- You need a working @ufl.edu email address.
- One account per person. Extra accounts are removed, along with any rating they earned.
- You must be 13 or older.
Community rules
The park's phone box is one room shared by everyone on campus, and nobody in it chose the company. So:
- No slurs or hate speech. Nothing targeting race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender or sexuality. This is the one thing that gets an account removed on the first offence.
- No sexual content, and nothing sexual involving minors, ever.
- No harassment. Do not follow someone around the app, and do not pile on. If someone blocks you, that is the end of it.
- No impersonation. Do not pick a username pretending to be someone else.
- No spam, advertising or link dumping.
Some language is refused when you try to post it. That filter is not the whole rule — a message that gets through can still break these rules.
Reporting and blocking
Every message has a flag on it, and every profile has Report or block. Reports go to a human, who reads them and can delete the message or remove the account. Blocking is immediate and mutual: you and that person disappear from each other's park, chat, search, friend list and challenges.
Something urgent, or something this does not cover: help@playpickl.app. Anything involving a threat to someone's safety should also go to the police and to UF.
Playing fair
Rating is the whole game, so the rules about it matter:
- Check in at the court. Both players confirm in person — one reads a 4-digit code off their screen, the other types it in — and both phones are checked against the court's location.
- Report the score honestly. The other player confirms or disputes it. A dispute goes to an admin.
- No farming. After 3 ranked matches against the same opponent in 7 days, more matches between you count for your record but not your rating.
- No faking location and no checking in for a match you did not play. Accounts found doing this lose their rating and their prize eligibility.
Before any prize is awarded, the top players' match history, check-in locations and reports are reviewed by hand.
Season prizes
Season prizes are described in the app when a season is running. No purchase is necessary and nothing in Pickl costs money. Coins are earned by playing and only buy cosmetic items; they have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold or transferred.
Your account
You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Pickl can suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules. Matches already played stay on your opponents' records either way — see the privacy policy for why.
The boring part
Pickl is a student project, run by one person, provided as-is and without warranty. It may be unavailable, lose data, or stop. Pickleball is a sport played with your body: you play at your own risk, and Pickl is not responsible for injuries, disagreements or anything else that happens at a court. Pickl is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the University of Florida.
